[where is nahri!! shenhe watched her walk away from the big meeting, and it isn't long until she goes to look for nahri. that, she thinks, is more important than asking questions.]
[she doesn't answer because she has made her way to the McDonald's! hello. where is nahri, she's looking. she's probably limping just a little bit but don't worry about it.]
[shenhe is in the warehouse, tonight, settled against the wall. she's eased up against the one with the lanterns and lotuses, eyes closed, breathing even. in and out. it's quiet here. she needs that.]
[ nahri has been out getting into trouble (no) and comes back a little later. she... isn't sure she should approach? but she does, so she doesn't have to raise her voice across the warehouse. ]
Should I come back later?
[ she's okay with giving shenhe space if she needs it. ]
she has a little bit of a hard time showing it as usual, but she missed! nature! which is why she immediately crosses over into the grass and puts her hands on one of the trees, the faintest bit of a smile on her face.]
[ nahri trudges wetly into the warehouse, leaving a drippy trail as she does so. the water has completely deflated her hair and causes her tshirt dress to stick to her scrawny little frame.
this is so valid. shenhe comes into the warehouse holding a box of seven chicken nuggets. she's a little crispy, her hair is a fucking mess, and also she's bleeding from a vague gunshot wound in the side, which she hasn't really noticed. when she sees nahri, she frowns... puts her nuggies down.
and then goes over and scoops nahri up off the floor to sit her on one of their terrible couches instead.]
[it's a little late, when shenhe comes to find nahri. wherever nahri is - whether it's the warehouse or outside or whatever, shenhe doesn't get too close.
instead, she stands a few feet away, and tries about three times to say something and kind of just fails. good job, good talk.]
[ nahri is out here vibing by one of the canals. it's fine. she's not really upset or angry, but she is tired. when she notices shenhe, this does not change. she does not approach, but she also does not attempt to flee. ]
Do you need something?
[ that comes out much more curt than she intended. ]
[well the way she asks after her is a little too hard to ignore, so she doesn't... hide too hard. when she sees nahri, she comes out from the tree she was curled up on.]
... I'm right here. [she just seems very, very muted. especially so.]
[it's probably a little into the evening - shenhe is sitting in the middle of the library, looking through a book. the title seems to be The Boar Princess, and she's very engrossed in whatever tale it's telling.
[ nahri nosy. doubly so when it comes to shenhe. so she creeps up behind her to take a look at what she's reading. for once she isn't super riled up about anything, but her interest is less muted, so shenhe can probably sense that approach. ]
[ this time, there's any demure sadness or anxiety. there's the usual concern, but it's masked by something else. there's anger, at whoever undid the psych that would have made this trial just a little less painful for shenhe. there's fear, at what shenhe is going to do.
of course nahri has to go find her. this time, she hesitates to come in with any gentle touches or hugs. but she wants her to know she's there, just in case.
but something tells her that shenhe really needs this moment to work through what just happened, even if it's in a way that nahri doesn't particularly like. ]
[a whole entire tree is on fire, when she finds shenhe, and shenhe is like. not stopping. she's just going to destroy this entire park.
sometimes, fire feels better. she's had ice her whole life, she's been a statue, and to make the switch into something furious, something that burns instead of freezes, has been almost a novelty. she can see the effect she leaves on the world like this.
remember me, buzen had said. i was just telling the truth, fei du said.
she burns until she's too tired to stand, and then she just. sits, abruptly, her emotions haywire. her ropes aren't working. she thinks her ropes aren't working anymore. or maybe they never were, and she's just realizing now. she doesn't know.]
[ oh the vibes are rancid. nahri didn't even look, but she knows. she could hear what was happening, and she could feel what was happening to shenhe.
there's nothing inside her now. it's cold, and vacant - shock, more like, not quite a void. she hates that she understands the intimate grief of loss like this. ]
Shenhe...
[ she's too extroverted to stay away. maybe she should. then again, she'll keep throwing herself in the fire every single week if it means that she could help someone. if it means that she can maintain this bond. ]
[this time she isn't angry. this time she's just quiet.
the thing is - she hasn't lost a lot of people. she's been left behind. she knows that. she left others behind. she knows what it's like to be alone, and it suited her fine. but then - she met the traveler, and then she met the others, after that, and then she made it here and she found people who understand her heart, and they're gone. they're just gone, and she has to keep going.
two in one.
this time, she's standing somewhere, it doesn't matter - and she's trying so desperately to cry, or do anything at all, but it won't happen. it doesn't happen. she doesn't know how to cry anymore. she hasn't since she was a little girl.
she's scared. she could lose this, too, and then what.]
[ she looks at her phone, then looks around like maybe, if she tries hard enough, shenhe will simply appear - but she isn't where she wants to be just yet, so he look around is brief and she heads back to the warehouses. ]
Hold on, Shenhe, just-- hold on, I'm hurrying. [ clearly saying this out loud will be effective. she wants to believe that it is, anyway.
she is going to try the warehouse, because she can't read the vague discord chat to know if this will work or not. also, she wants to have shenhe's vision nearby. that should help her focus. ]
[ as if she wouldn't try to contact shenhe. she wanders around like any other poor soul looking for good reception, though she wants to be somewhere that offers at least a decent amount of privacy. or maybe the park, because shenhe did love the outside. ]
[it's fine, she can find shenhe almost immediately because shenhe is doing her best to get to an area where she can see nahri in return. when nahri opens her senses, shenhe is not too far from her, and with a good amount of relief:]
