[ Okay he's coming aside to prod Shenhe about something later after their team set-up meeting. ]
The beanie kid told me you're actually familiar with Cryo.
[ And yet she is here... with Pyro... ]
I ain't got any special powers where I come from, so I'm still figuring it out. He said you might be able to help me, 'specially now that we're on a team.
His name is Jonas. [she says, like wolfwood doesn't know. but she knows! she likes jonas! so she remembers his name.]
Cryo was the element given to me when I was awarded my Vision as a child. [...] I don't know what I can teach you, but I can try. Have you attempted to use it yet?
[ He'll use names... sometimes... looks at him only ever calling Millie 'big girl'... ]
I don't really know how, or where to begin. That guy with the cigarettes [ this describes literally 3 other people ] showed off how he turns into a big shadow out of nowhere, but he wasn't really helpful in actually telling me anything, other than saying "it's the pin".
If I think about it, I think the air got colder when I got angry once, but it didn't put out anything major, so I didn't notice at the time.
That is unhelpful. Was it Shu? He is unhelpful. [she says this so mildly. she actually likes shu, she's just mean.] Hm... I explained it to Nahri as thinking of what makes you cold.
[she reaches to take wolfwood's hand.]
I think of the chill in the early morning before the dawn, and the way I can see my breath. And then I think of how I want it to form. I can summon a sword - can you?
The jury is out about Wolfwood's opinion on Shu. ]
I can't summon a sword. I'm a gunslinger, not a sword user, remember?
[ She can have his hand. Cold, huh... to him, that's the cold chill of dawn long after the suns have set and the heat has disappeared in favour of night. Frosty winds in the dawn before the heat racks up. Cold metal of a gun in his hands. Unforgiving metal on his skin, the shiver of his body and his heart beating fast to make up for a lack of blood.
His eyes fall shut briefly and his brow twitches, frowning, before looking at Shenhe again proper. ]
Well, then summon a gun. [she says this like "duh"
she watches him as he thinks, as he frowns, and despite herself, sighs a little. not in exasperation or annoyance, but something a little sad. nahri frowned, too, and she wonders if anybody finds comfort in the cold.]
I do. I cloak myself in it, and extend it out from me. I have found that here, I can create all sorts of forms. Blades, chains, whirlpools.
[ He puts aside the 'duh' tone for now. She's the expert in this field, and he's just a guy. He supposes it must be something like looking after a clueless toma to her.
But sure, he focuses. Which is a little odd, trying to imagine... A GUN MADE OUT OF ICE??? His brows furrow because he kind of can't shake off the idea that that looks stupid even in his imagination. Beyond that, every time he tries to imagine a gun, he can't just do that on its own. His hands always come into the picture, because a gun can't kill on its own.
His breath feels cold, though. So maybe it's working? So does his body as a whole. Maybe he's imagining it.
Or maybe there's little icicles forming around the edges of his shoes, and also in his palms.
[ Only kind of about himself, but also Shenhe's previous experiences too. This is... weird... and to be honest, he's not entirely sure he likes it, but he's gonna have to at least learn just in case. ]
I don't know if I can explain it in words. [but she'll try!] Perhaps think about hitting me with it. Or coating my hand, if you don't want to do that. Imagine throwing it from you.
When I create the chains, or the weapons, I picture it in my mind, and they appear.
[ Normally he isn't that objected to punching someone but Shenhe has been nice to him! He likes this weird giant bird so far. He'll go with a different suggestion, thinking about what kind of use cases he'd want to use this for the most.
Throwing would be nice, as an alternative to bullets in the cases where he doesn't have any. More fragments of ice gather around his shoes, leaving a small swathe of icicles and crystals as he thinks about the second use case, what else he uses his cross for --
-- and with a sharp crack, a bunch of jagged ice forms a haphazard wall in front of them both. It's ugly and a little misshapen (perhaps if you squint, somewhat in the shape of a cross) but it would probably do its job as a shield.
Wolfwood jumps a little bit though because it happens so suddenly. ]
[she also jumps just a little bit, out of instinct. but once she figures out what it is he's doing, her lips twitch at the corners. a pause, and then she reaches out to touch the ice, tapping it with her fingers. yeah. that works.]
Nice job. [she says, clearly pleased.] You learn fast.
[she thinks it's funny, a little, that someone who tries to come off as as rough as he does, forms a shield first, rather than a weapon.]
[ He's rough around the corners, he's a handful of shards trying to keep it together in a human shape, but even all in all, he wishes murder didn't run in his veins. He ultimately travels away from it in a scenario like this, where there's nothing around them to hit and kill. The bar for deserving a bullet is low, but nothing here is currently meeting that. ]
Yeah, I'm pretty well-known for that.
[ Learning fast, he means. The more he uses it, the better he'll get, at an alarming pace. ]
Think I'm gettin' the hang of it. The idea anyway.
It isn't difficult, and I don't think someone like you will find issues with being creative with your Vision. [it's easier to call it a vision than a psych, for her, so she just does unless she's corrected.] I doubt you even needed me at all.
We're teammates, aren't we. Better that I learn how to use every weapon I've got than watch someone die 'cause I was a little short on the contribution.
[ He doesn't like it when things are his fault. ]
Is "Vision" what you call magic where you're from?
[ Ugh, he shivers a bit. Damn, that's cold... as the shield of ice starts to crackle into pieces bit by bit as he lets go of his concentration, the ice also chipping away from his hands. ]
[oh... that's nice, though. shenhe actually looks a little surprised - they're teammates, but the way she approaches everything is by being alone. it's surprisingly pleasant to have someone else looking out for her, even if it's in a roundabout way.
it's why she summons a small flame in her hand to try and help him get the ice off. she keeps it far away enough so that it doesn't immediately melt and soak him, but close enough that it's easier for the ice to come away.]
So I gather. [she glances at him.] Magic isn't exactly a common word where I'm from, but I've found they mean mostly the same thing. Visions are elemental, though.
[ Oh, thanks. He shakes off bits of ice from his hand, away from Shenhe bit letting the fire aid him. He nods a little bit in acknowledgment. ]
So it doesn't include that "healing" stuff or whatever "drift aura" is, I take it.
[ He's seen that it involves like. Teleportation and invisibility... which he thinks aren't elements...? He's not a magic guy, he doesn't know anything. ]
[ He can understand most of those, except anemo and dendro. Wtf are those? He doesn't ask because he feels it's likely not really relevant to anything they're doing at the moment. ]
Yeah, water of life and all that. I think that makes sense.
Some people where I'm from have got weird abilities, usually through mechanical and genetic augmentations, but don't really know anyone who can just freely manipulate... elements, like this.

... They're a gift from the gods. [she says, looking down at her arms to brush away the ice.]

...
[ It's so funny how everything about Shenhe seems to fly a little too close to the sun with Wolfwood. ]
Nevermind. Sorry I asked.
no subject
Mm. [she's a little eager to push past that topic, honestly - it's better that he doesn't know how she earned her vision.
she adjusts the red ropes around her arm, and then straightens.] In any case. Perhaps we can find a way to combine our power, since we're teammates.

Fire would just melt me, wouldn't it?
I guess you're the one who uses both. How would you go about combining it?
