It was alright. [...] She gave Gerard a very important sign. [it's probably not important but shenhe believes it is] And she told us that she was going to help us.
[shows her... a feather!] I think this is from her, but I have no idea what it does.
Haha. Yeah. Well, I was feeling like I wanted to go into the mountains and become a llama and eat grass forever, but then I was like, time to nut up and just do it and do it a lot and get it done. And now I'm fine.
Yeah. She always felt like, maybe - it's weird. [...]
She's pretty, and nice to everyone, and cares a lot about everybody - she can be all of those things while still being brave and strong, too. Actually, she reminded me most of all like my friend Rosamund, but Rosamund is an actual princess who even has a movie about her and she's the most beautiful and nice person to ever exist, whereas Ruby felt more like...if I tried, I could be those things too. I'm not sure I can explain it. [but it's simple, it's because ruby is little red riding hood coded too, but a pretty and cool badass teen version.]
But it was also really obvious to me that we never became close friends because she'd never let me in. She'd always change the subject or say it wasn't important if we were talking about anything hard or painful. I thought it was just because I'm younger...
[it makes enough sense to her - funnily enough this is kind of how shenhe feels about vash, though obviously there's differences.]
I think that sometimes people are just like that. [she says, after a moment.] Maybe because she never let anybody in was why she felt she had to do what she did.
You and Gerard have told me a lot about stories. I've read a lot of a story where people made decisions, and then were reset, and made entirely different decisions based on who they were with. [she tilts her head back. almost absently:] The story's outcome depends on the characters.
... I think that you already are all those things that you described about Ruby, you know. I think you are correct, that you can be those things if you try, because the start is already there.
[well, maybe not pretty. it's a big ask for a 12 year old going through an unfortunate werewolf puberty to be pretty. but the rest, she's very happy to hear.]
...Thanks, Shenhe.
[is she fucking talking about homestuck. i hate it here. ylfa would skip to the trolls so she wouldn't understand the plot of homestuck anyway.]
I think Ruby maybe didn't let me in because she'd already decided she'd probably have to sacrifice us, so it didn't matter. But I don't think thinking of other people that way is actually so easy. [at least part of her hopes that some part of ruby cared about them, even if she always made sure to keep a distance.] Still...I'm not going to risk all of us just to try to change her mind.

Oh! Like me! But a dog, not a wolf! That sounds fun...

... I'm glad to see you so optimistic.

But I'm extra fine now that you guys are back.

... None of you saw Ruby this time, right?

When we went back to the very beginning, I think she'd left, but not since.

I'm sorry that it has had to be like this. You seem fond of her.
