[ fei du is the worst person to be doing this with because he also doesn't feel emotions like a normal person im so sorry shenhe
anyway. he, thankfully, had the world's most embarrassing interaction with luo wenzhou this morning so at least he's kind of vaguely aware of what's going on. ]
Nothing particularly important. [ as he looks down the length of the mall... ] Let's get away from the scene of our crime, hm? Before she chases me down to ask for a business contract.
[ he gestures with his head over to... the salon! ]
Have you noticed our strange little effect this week?
[i hope he saw wenzhou and had embarrassing dokis]
Alright. [also, listen, he's actually the best person, because i need you to know how Bad it is going to be when she experiences thirty people's emotions at once. she will start walking towards the salon, though, absently holding onto some part of his clothes.]
What? [a pause.] Oh... yes, I think so. Alex explained to me that I was likely feeling her joy. It was nice.
Why?

[ alright!! off they go. he doesn't stop shenhe from holding onto his clothes - he's gotten kind of used to it, at this point, and gives off nothing but your run of the mill standard vibes. like, very little emotion. it is at an even keel.
off to the salon! ]
Just curious. [ a hum. ] It happened to me this morning, too, unfortunately.
[ he breezes right past that because that's definitely not at all a weird thing to happen to a normal ass person
anyway wow. ] I guess we could get a manicure, if you wouldn't be bothered by someone touching your hands...? Or I could help you with it, if you'd like. It's nice - I haven't had one in a while.
I wouldn't mind if you did. [she thinks she does not trust a stranger to touch her hands. but.] I don't know what it is, exactly, but if it's nice, I'd like to try.
It's where someone takes care of your hands for you. Typically women get theirs painted a color, too.
[ he wanders off to find the nail polish display and brings it over? there's a little spark of like, novelty. it's not that fei du's never had a manicure, because he definitely has, but he's never exactly been able to do something like this. emotionally, it goes from novelty to the sense of novelty behind a glass, like he's looking at it under a microscope, and then it melts away. ]
[well, okay. she knows that isn't her own. she's watching him, now, letting that happen.
and then she makes her way over to the polishes, looking. there's a soft blue that she likes, with a little distant ping of yay. she holds it in her hand, with a thoughtful noise.]
[ light blue it is! he fidgets through the tools for a bit, coming up with a clipper and a bottle of lotion and some other stuff? good enough. he plops into one of the chairs and smiles at shenhe, gesturing to the chair across from him. come sit. please do not notice his emotions being like this. ]
[she gives all of those things a suspicious look, but then does finally make her way over and sit across from him. her hands are what you'd expect - calloused, and not in the best shape. she lives out in the woods, it's lucky that she knows how to cut her nails.
she has long, slender fingers, though, and her hands are very, very steady. they don't shake at all when she lifts them.]
[ he will take her hand in one of his and settle in to start...doing the manicure thing. cleaning up her nails, to make sure they're even. his hands are steady, too, soft and clean and callous free.
for a moment, he just settles into content companionship - and it's in that moment that a little more emotion comes out. it's not obvious - like most things about fei du, it's subtle, just a whisper - but there's a feeling of companionship, there. he's genuinely enjoying it. ]
she doesn't mind not speaking, comfortable like this. occasionally there are little bits of emotion that are like tiny pings of ! and ? when he does the nail stuff, but nothing that would translate to protesting. and as he settles - she does too.
there is a sense of something like trust. it's slow, and unsteady, but. she trusts him to touch her hands, to brush her hair. it's important.
she likes the companionship, too, the small amount of it she can feel. it smooths out the frown on her face.]
he is very good with this tiny little brush, and the color goes on nice and smooth, with no chips or bubbles, no mistakes. it's a very nice blue color! and when he finally pulls back from it, focused, he tilts his head up and gives her a little smile. ]
There. What do you think of that? Be careful - you'll have to hold still until it dries.
[there's like... this faint feeling of happiness, but it's more like. acceptance? like being accepted. relief, maybe. she lifts her hand to look at it.]
his feelings are as faint as hers - there's a match of something affectionate, dim as it is. ]
Well, it's much easier to do it to someone else, then on your own hands - I wouldn't count yourself out that easily. [ hehe. ] You picked a good color - it matches your eyes.
[there's a little bit of fluster, there, actually. it doesn't show on her face at all, but she does shift, which is a marked difference from the way she sits very, very still normally. like a statue made of ice.]
[ oh, cute....? that's adorable. there's a very small flicker of "aww" in his emotions, but he doesn't say anything about it, just suppressing a smile. ] I have a friend who's into that scene of things moreso than me.
He is. He's got a wild sense of fashion, though - his hair is this tall.
[ he reaches up to hold a hand over his head in the shape of a tall mohawk, a little amused. he keeps weird company, sometimes. ] And truthfully, it's coming into fashion for men to do so too, nowadays.
[ gender equality and shit
but, oh! the hair thing! he makes a little noise and stands up from his seat, moving to put stuff away. there's a little emotional ! to it. ] Sure. It got a bit messy, didn't it?

Come on, let's do something else. Maybe a more suitable makeover adventure.

[she will also step inside - her hair is still in that combination of his nice braid and buzen's lopsided additions. it probably needs to be brushed.]
It's strange that I don't feel anything from you. [she says, mildly, looking around the salon.] ... What would you suggest, as far as... makeovers?
