He wants, very badly, to say It's really not, because he knows what kind of vibes he's given off this week--what he carries with him every week, spilled out for everyone to see. But he doubts she'd like it if he said that, and he doesn't want to turn to the conversation to himself anyway.

I'm glad. [If he can bring her even a little peace or a small distraction, that's enough.] ...Did it help?
[He wants Matsui to live. He won't stop anyone from trying to convince him to do so. But... he just isn't sure it's in the cards. And if he goes, Rang goes with him.]
[yeah. that - well, listen, he says that and there's this horrible, very present hopelessness and sorrow that comes from her. it's overwhelming for her because she hasn't felt that since she was small. not like this, not this intently.

[For as much as Kaveh's been wallowing in his own guilt, he is preternaturally attuned to other people, so. At that wave of emotion from her, he shifts, leaning over enough to press his arm against hers. For a litlte while, he's quiet, just letting that sit between them.]
